Behaviour
During breeding seasons, males frequently shake heads sideways, look back or flap wings in water to entice females to mate, while females bob heads up and down or splash with heads down as a gesture of pleasure.
Distribution
Distributed across the Holarctic, this species winters by migrating south. A rare winter visitor to Hong Kong, it is mainly spotted in the vicinity of Deep Bay from October until May next year.
