Indian Jujube is an evergreen tree or shrub originated in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangdong and Guangxi. It is also cultivated in Fujian and Taiwan as well as Sri Lanka, India, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Africa.

The twigs of Indian Jujube are covered with dense yellowish-grey downy hairs. The young branches have short fine hairs whereas the old branches are purplish red in colour. The tree produces hard, fine wood which is suitable for furniture making and industrial use.

This tree is 8 m tall with a DBH of about 500 mm and a crown spread of about 10 m.
